I took my first runs of the season today over at Bear Peak. It was up and down, up and down on a single run, but still fun. The guns were not blowing on the run that was open, but the snowcover was more than adequate. The snow (all machine made) ranged from soft-packed to easy-to-carve hard-packed.
The only problem was the lift which stopped a few times before being shut down for "adjustments" mid-morning. I didn't want to hang around for the estimated 1 hour wait and didn't want to go over to the main mountain to ski the less challenging couple of trails that were open on that side so I asked a ski patrolman if I could get a voucher to retun another day. I don't recall his name, but have to say he was one of the friendliest, most customer service oriented ski area employees I've ever met. Problem is he was in the minority. None of the people manning the customer service desk could figure out how to issue a voucher and when they called "management" over at the main mountain it was a "stone wall". NO VOUCHERS WOULD BE ISSUED. I guess the customer isn't always right after all; at least at Attitash.
