On weds 4/2 the owners of Mt Ascutney pulled the plug on the best spring skiing the Mt has seen in a long time. At Mt A its not about the skiing. |

Reply with quote | #3 | Too bad. You're right, most ski areas are about the real estate now. It's always heartbreaking in good snow years to see all the NE mountains close with deep snow still on the slopes.
Hopefully we'll eventually get back to more areas like Silverton in Colorado. I think if the economy really goes down, we'll see several big resorts go under, maybe some will re-emerge as bare-bones skiing operations.
Just give me a slow chairlift and plow the access road, that's all I need. No golf course and condos necessary!

Ditto to that Bob. I will ski all day and dont mind the slow chairlift to rest on the way back up. |
